The new format Junior tournaments based on one team of 13 to 18 year olds (rather than the 2 U15 and U19 teams of previous years) started with the first events yesterday.

CWBA are in a round robin group with Wolverhampton and North Wales Knights and hosted the first of the 3 preliminary rounds.

North Wales as usual brought a vocal crowd of supporters and cheer leaders. Their first match against CWBA was hotly contested but CWBA won easily 54 to 35.

The North Wales v Wolverhampton game saw the Knights drive heavily against the more youthful team and emerge victorious 77 v 9

CWBA made a decision to field their less experienced players for longer against Wolverhampton and emerged winners by 40 to 28.

The whole day was pleasant and for the first time game each team to play 2 full games in the day. This was a major improvement on the previous 20 min games which meant some players had very limited court time.

All 3 teams had new shining stars and we look forward to seeing them develop over the next 2 preliminary rounds at Wolverhampton and North Wales in January and March respectively
