Match Report CWBA 2 vs Leicester Cobras 2 25/3/12

posted 26 Mar 2012, 10:29 by Paul Claridge

CWBA travelled to Leicester on Sunday for the last 2nd team game of the 2011-12. The 10 strong squad faced a mobile and well drilled Cobras team. The Cobras scored well in the first quarter and ended with Crusaders trailing 20-6. In the second the Crus defence started to work and Jamie Hamilton was able to convert some good chances. By the half Crusaders had reduced the gap to 30-14. The second half saw some fantastic offensive set plays executed perfectly by Cameron Swan and Craig Thompson. The Crusaders rolled the bench and varied the line up throughout the game and by the end of the 3rd they had reduced the Cobras lead to 38-28. The final quarter was a close run thing with both team trading baskets. In the end the experience and mobility was too much for the relatively inexperienced Crusaders team. The match ended in the Cobras favour at 49-35.

This was a good team perfromance against a mobile team.

Coach Claridge said: "It was always going to be a hard match, the team showed some good skills, and everyone worked hard throughout. I'm already looking forward to next season".

Scorers for the day: Jamie – 23, Sarah – 6 and Siobhan 6
